While viewing the domiciles, I recognized several issues I see while teaching children in Ogdensburg, NY.  We have cases of anorexia, we have bullying and children whose families are affected by war. I chose to write a music video using doors numbered 1,2,10,and 13.

Door number 2 has all seeing eyes. I heard Brandon Heath sing about God's all seeing eyes and his desire to see like God, in a song titled, "Give me your Eyes." As a teacher, I feel the same way. I see glimpses of the issues children are going through but wish to know more so that I can better understand and help each child. Mr. Heath's song says;

"Give me Your eyes for just one second

Give me Your eyes so I can see

Everything that I keep missing

Give me Your love for humanity

Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted

The ones that are far beyond my reach

Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten

Give me Your eyes so I can see."

WOW! Amen!    And so I found several amazing students and teachers to help me make a music video of a teacher seeing evidence of doors # 1, 10 and 13. The video, set to Mr. Heath's song, also includes a great teacher being let go because of a budget crisis. All these issues are common in schools, especially ours. Our music video is a story of how one teacher can make a difference, and of how one teacher does his best to make the world a better place by opening doors.

Perhaps your students could make a music video about one or more of the doors, too.

Special thanks to Alan for his artistic inspiration.
